Baptism
Baptism is the means by which we become Christians. It is the initiation rite established by Jesus himself when he commissioned his disciples to go into all the world and make new disciples "baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." So this is what we do.
All Christian churches worldwide recognise Baptism, although their methods may differ.
Through Baptism you become a member of the worldwide Christian church, which might also be called "The Body of Christ" or "The bride of Christ". We become children of God, adopted into his family, and brothers and sisters of one another.
If you wish to prepare for your own or your child's Baptism, then use this "Contact Me" button.

Staying Connected
Register for the weekly e-mail
Register on the church directory
For some, staying connected is for now the most important mark of membership.
As well as the published material which you can access through the "Finding My Place" page, you may wish to receive the Rector's weekly e-mail. For this you will need to be added to the distribution list. Past weekly emails can be downloaded.
Another way of staying connected is to include your contact details on the Church Directory. This directory is shared with a number of people in leadership positions, and enables them to get in touch with you by letter, email or phone.
Formal Membership of St Nicolas Church, Great Bookham
Every Church of England parish maintains a formal membership roll called The Electoral Roll.
Being a member of the Electoral Roll enables you to participate in the governance of the local church, and indeed be eligible for nomination in the elections to the PCC (Parochial Church Council) and to the deanery, diocesan and national synods (governing bodies) should you so wish.
The elctoral roll is maintained by our electoral roll officer, and is updated each year in time for our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) at which new members of the PCC are elected. It is also completely revised once every six years.
If you wish to become a member full member of our local church, as well as the Church of England, then please contact our Electoral Roll Officer using the Contact Me button to the right.
