Zambia 2016

The team at Heathrow before they take off!

About our Zambia Trip

Following Jesus where the need is greatest, that is what we aim to do when the St Nicolas Youth group go out to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a deprived area.

We are going out to Zambia with Mission Direct, who work with local partner agencies, to an area of Zambia called Chamba valley.  Last year Mission Direct worked to build a Rescure Centre called Vision of Hope (VOH) which is a transitional safe home for girls aged 11-18 who are homeless due to poverty, abuse or difficult family circumstances.  We will be working with them to help build a kitchen and dining/common room.  We will also be helping to build a new classroom for a community school which provides many poor children with their first formal step in education.  We will be working with local builders who will train us to do the work our team is required to do.

The time will also be spent visiting other partners of Mission Direct and assissting and supporting them as necessary.  This often involves organising activities with the group and spending time talking to, eating with and praying with those who have suffered.  An example of what we might do is taking a group of children to a wildlife park or organising a holiday club for them (the games and activities). There will also be time off for the Young People to explore Zambia and to continue to develop their understanding of this beautiful country.

Please support them in their mission to follow Jesus where the need is greatest. And in doing so help to build up their faith, as they see the impact of the church on lives that are so different from their own. Mission trips such as these are the foundation to building our church, and inspiring the next generation of church leaders to love those who God loves.
