Here's what happened in August 2008:
90 children, keen for adventure and excitement, joined the crew of the Starship Discovery as it launched from the Barn Hall at the end of August. The hall was filled with Moons and Stars, Satellites and Rockets, Comets and Asteroids, Planets and Meteorites and Alien Androids!
We followed the stories of Peter, one of Jesus’ closest friends and learnt from Peter’s example how to ‘TURN’ to follow Jesus, to ‘TRUST’ Jesus, to ask for forgiveness when we ‘TRIP UP’ and get things wrong, to be willing to be ‘TRANSFORMED’ by the Holy Spirit and then to ‘TRAIN’ in the Christian faith so we’re able to be strong when we find things hard.
On our journey, there were jokes galore, fun and games, craft, drama and aerobics and for those brave enough to take part in the messy game each day, there was fun with jelly and androids eyeballs and intestines to feel!
Well done to ‘Today’s Catch’ group of teenagers who made the DVD of Peter’s stories and to those who acted out the drama – they were both excellent!
Thanks to a great team, of all ages, who worked together, Starship Discovery was another successful Holiday Club that was loads of fun. In particular, thanks must go to the great up-front trio of Spenda(Sue), Wanda(Tracey) and Chef(Alan) whose energy and enthusiasm was amazing!
