Our Vision

Our vision at St Nicolas is encapsulated in our Vision or Mission Statement:
‘ Building Faith in the Community ‘
Building: is about dynamic action rather than static structures. We at St Nicolas believe that as individuals we are called to constant growth as disciples of Jesus Christ. As a body of disciples we try to ensure that our way of doing things helpfully engages with an ever changing world.
Faith: reminds us that at the heart of all our activity at St Nicolas, not least our worship, is a living faith in the Trinitarian God – God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We seek to place this faith – which is revealed to us in the Bible and summarised in the creeds of the church - at the centre of everything we do.
Community: underlines our belief that Jesus’ expression of love and care is for all people, for all time. For those of us at St Nicolas this means a willingness to serve both the church and the local community of Great Bookham; tangible demonstrations of unity with the wider Christian church; a concern for the environment and world issues; an expectation that we will live out our faith at home, at work, in our leisure pursuits; and a readiness at all times to answer anyone who asks us to explain the hope we have in us.
